We will empower the young people of Weston Super Mare to think about, voice & resolve challenges they face in their community through unique drama, film and performance. Speak up & stay safe!
Sorry this project was unsuccessful, we did not reach our fundraising goal.
Young people can play a key role in making communities safe, welcoming places to live and enjoy. We want their voices to be heard and respected. Most of all we want them to feel safe and be safe. The ‘What Would You Do?’ programme is run by West Country Crimestoppers, Unique Voice and Avon and Somerset Constabulary. We help young people to look at how they can make their community a safer and better place to be in, and to help them make an informed choice when faced with difficult challenges or decisions. Year 5 children of 4 North Somerset schools in Weston-Super-Mare will have the opportunity to work with Social Enterprise Drama company 'Unique Voice'. Creative workshops will allow children to talk openly about their community concerns. A showcase event follows the workshops, with lessons being shared through a performance of drama and film at The Weston Playhouse Theatre.

Steps to get it done:
West Country Crimestoppers flagship programme has already benefitted hundreds of young people and communities across the city and has evidenced significant outcomes in both young people’s wellbeing, PSHE development and local crime reporting by parents/ carers. The main objective of this project is to look at how they can make their community a safer and better place to be in, and to help them make an informed choice when faced with difficult challenges or decisions. Details of how the charity Crimestoppers works , our motto - Speak Up, Stop Crime, Stay Safe and remain 100% Anonymous and the promotion of the 0800 555 111 telephone number is an important part of this project which the young people showcase to parents and carers. West Country Crimestoppers flagship programme ‘What Would You Do ?’ is expanding out from Bristol into North Somerset for 2018.
