Snaxchange aims to reduce food wastage by offering an online platform for users to sell food and beverages purchased from Retailers to others at a discounted rate and ahead of the ‘best before’ date. The seller will thus recover some of their expenses as an alternative to dumping food and beverages as waste. Moreover, the buyer will have access to food and beverages at discounted rates for immediate consumption. All food items and beverages which cannot be sold by the stipulated ‘best before’ date will be passed on to Food Banks of partnering NPOs at no or minimal costs just before the immediate expiry date. Using, Pop-up events ( Stalls and events in malls) we will create awareness on the importance of recycling and reselling food. We will also enable users to become part of the Snaxchange Movement by giving them opportunity to register for our apps and website.
What we'll deliver:
Why it's a great idea:
We did extensive research to find out if any company had ventured into these areas. We found that some NPOs have a similar intent to reduce food wastage but a completely different business model. No organization provides a platform for individuals to resell and donate food with the sole purpose of combating food wastage. Such platforms only exist for non-food items. When we approached government authorities (Licensing Bodies) for permissions; they admitted there was a shortage of such platforms associated with food wastage and had to have detailed internal discussions to provide approval for this innovative idea. A common theme from the licensing office was that this idea is so innovative, they had to develop a new licensing category. Given the novelty of this idea, Snaxchange has got many features in news and media, has more than 250, 000 hits on the website, and many individuals willing to support and commit to the cause.
Steps to get it done:
We, at Snaxchange, are very excited about the launch of our venture. However, as with any E-Business, we depend heavily on effective marketing. We seek your backing to help raise funds for our marketing initiatives and the development of our IT initiatives. We aim to reach millions of users to help them contribute to this worthwhile cause and save our planet. We believe your support will help Snaxchange reach new heights.
