Sk8Hub London seeks to offer roller dance jam workshops and 2-hour skating classes at Whitechapel Sports Centre in London. We are now seeking a new home to deliver our workshops on a more regular basis from January 2023 - December 2023. Our goal is to provide safe spaces for skaters from different backgrounds and abilities to practise their roller dance technique consistently and learn from renowned roller dance performers and instructors. By providing the skating community with this opportunity, we hope it can nurture leadership, growth and creativity in the art of roller dance and elevate the skill-level of local skaters. We are keen to collaborate with different members of the skating community, particularly in East London to deliver high-quality, community-led and growth-oriented events.
What we'll deliver:
Why it's a great idea:
Key benefits that Sk8Hub can offer the community include: • Providing skaters with a safe and inclusive space to consistently skate and practise. • Boosting the confidence and creativity of skaters to express and showcase their roller dance skills. • Improve the physical and mental wellbeing of young and older people. • Encourage social cohesion and bonding amongst skaters from different backgrounds and ages. • Providing space for talented skate instructors to develop and nurture their coaching skills. • Become a reliable community hub for London’s growing skating community.
Steps to get it done:
SK8HUB SHOWCASE: We welcome all donors to join any workshop of their choice. In May 2023, we would like to invite our donor community to Sk8Hub's first 'Showcase event' where we can showcase, growth and progress made. Attendees will include: Donors, Sk8Hub students, service providers and free tickets for the public. Skate rentals will be available. HEALTH & SAFETY: The safety of all skaters attending any Sk8Hub session is a non-negotiable priority. So we have taken every precaution to mitigate and manage risks. We have: • Acquired annual insurance coverage with Events Insurance. • Strongly advised and advocated for all attendees to wear protective gear. • Set a strict capacity limit which Sk8Hub management has enforced. • Set an age restriction – Under 16s must be accompanied by a supervising adult. • Ensured that competent first aid & trauma responders are available. • Developed a H&S Policy & Disclaimers. • Clearly communicate mandatory safety rules before sessions.
