We are looking to make remembrance poppies to place on the railings of Sir John Cass's Foundation Primary School and St Botolph's Church either side of Aldgate Square.

We will be making remembrance labels to attach to poppies that members of the school and local community to share their own stories and memories from the war. We will also be investigating famous people and stories from both world wars and more recent conflicts. These will be on show on the square for the local community and general public to view around remembrance day. We need to be able to buy resources to make the poppies.

Why it's a great idea:
The city is rich with history but it is easy to forget that it is also home to many people. 2018 marks the 100 anniversary of the end of the Great War and the establishment of remembrance day. We hope that through this project we will be able to tell the story and the heritage of Aldgate and the City while creating new links by bringing the local community together. We hope to do this in an interesting, interactive and poignant way.

VolunteerSir John Cass's Foundation Primary School is a unique Church of England school with an integrated Children's Centre in the heart of the City of London. Our School was founded by Sir John Cass over 300 years ago and to this day we remain proudly supported by our trustees, Sir John Cass’s Foundation.
We are the only local authority state maintained school in the square mile. All others have closed or merged over the last hundred years as the City population has decreased. We are based in an historic Edwardian building dating back to 1908 on the side of Aldgate Square.
We are a diverse, multicultural school. Many home languages are spoken and a significant proportion of our children come from disadvantaged backgrounds in the local area. We're a Church of England school but our Anglican tradition is liberal and inclusive. All children, irrespective of faith fully participate in school life.
Our aim is to provide an exceptional education for every child. To nurture their talents, strive for excellence and inspire young people to learn in a safe and caring environment where everyone is valued.
