Talking to, singing with and performing for adults in residential homes who want to hear songs that mean something to them

Members of the Harrow Community Gospel Choir will make contact with residential homes and have conversations with residents about their favourite songs and music. Members will prepare some residents' favourite songs and revisit the homes in person or virtually, and perform or sing with the residents using video and backing tracks online.

It will connect residents with singers and singing. It will give them the opportunity to talk about their own favourite songs and connect them with memories. It will provide a positive activity and boost wellbeing.

VolunteerHarrow Community Gospel Choir are a community of singers led by CeCelia Wickham Anderson, one of the amazing Black Voices singers. We are a mixed group who love singing together and rehearse every week, lockdown or no lockdown - at the moment on Zoom! We have a powerful sense of the healing power of friendship, laughter and singing and would like to use this to help those who may be lonely, vulnerable or just in need of the lift that music brings. So we would love to reach out to residents who are being looked after for one reason or another in residential homes across North West London to share some joy by listening to their stories, identifying their favourite music and bringing it to life.
