Sorry this project was unsuccessful, we did not reach our fundraising goal.

To bring sewing back into Schools and Communities This project is about strengthening families and communities through re-introducing traditional skills i.e. sewing, back into families to encourage them to spend more quality time together through this activity. By reintroducing these skills, it will encourage families to be together and potentially make their own items to use and enjoy. We will provide sewing sessions for children We want to do this in two ways. Firstly, we want to have a central venue where people of all ages can participate, together in an activity which once learnt, can help children to develop social, academic moral & technical skills, acting like catalysts that can fuel mental and physical growth. Secondly, to have a mobile classroom complete with equipment to hold classes away from the centre and for outlying areas. Including care homes and community centres. It will not be a one-off project as we plan to keep it going for as long as possible.

What we'll deliver:

  • Empower people with skills for life, improve people’s health and well-being
  • The development of children and their health
  • We have seen sewing help dementia patients to deal with their situations
  • Bring generations together, keep people together, allow people to socialise and make new friends
  • Help change the economy
  • New skills and confidence for future life

Why it's a great idea:

With your funding we can help others to benefit from this skill We have designed a unique way to teach sewing skills to children in a safe way. We feel this method will greatly enhance the learning process. This is a shame because it is a durable skill which can be achieved and used by people of all ages. So why sew? Sewing is a productive hobby. Hobbies are important for personal growth for children as well as adults. Children who grow with productive hobbies can perform well in their lives; both personally and professionally. It also helps with being creative and to develop creative solutions to any problem. Embroidery which is a form of sewing helps create patterns and follow logic, it helps people to stay focus, be alert and to engage with the prevailing situation. Knitting and Crocheting which are forms of sewing brings about meditative and relaxing qualities, they are being prescribed to people by the medical practitioners to help lead a healthy and happy lives.

Steps to get it done:

  • - Planning the budget
  • - Publicity for the project has already started

You can grow at your own pace and you can make a career from it We are a mixed faith-based team of designers who are rekindling the art of sewing. It will open doors of opportunities to the participants as they get o learn new skills which can help them start their own businesses.
