We have an outdoor shelter with seating as well as a traverse wall and activity area that, in the Summer, help the Scouts get active and give us a great space to teach them life skills such as cooking, woodwork, survival skills and teamwork. In the winter, these areas are currently not able to be used due to lack of lighting and our Scouts are then squashed in to our small hall, limiting what we can offer. We would love to get some new lighting outside to make this an all year-round area to keep our Scouts active and give them the space they need to learn and grow.

What we'll deliver:

• Install new lighting facing the traverse walls to light this area and make its use safe
• Install lighting in the shelter to allow us to use this space in all weathers and seasons
• Install lighting on the outside of the shelter allowing the activity areas to be used for our activities

Why it's a great idea:

Scouts is all about learning new skills and a big part of what we do is to try and do as much of that outdoors. Getting children away from their electronic devices and out experiencing nature is good for their mental health and wellbeing and shows them how valuable these types of activity are for developing a rounded personality. We want to ensure that our children who come from various different backgrounds where they don't necessarily have a regular opportunity to get out and about and this experience combined with the skills they learn at Scouting can really set them up for a positive future.
