Child and Youth mental health is in the headlines all the time. As is a chronic lack of funding for these services. This pioneering award-winning therapeutic services model has been running in a north London school for over four years with amazing results. We now want to replicate this across our local Borough so more children can benefit from early intervention support. Please donate - particularly if you live in Haringey!

What we'll deliver:

  • Well-being support in local schools
  • Sharing best practice
  • Co-ordinated approach across Borough

Why it's a great idea:

The government has called for ‘Trailblazers’ to pioneer mental health support for children in school. We are one of these organisations, with over 15 years combined experience. The model won the Guardian’s Public Service Award, Health & Emotional Well-being category in November 2017. Now we want to expand into our local Borough. One referral to CAMHS in four years; zero exclusions - the results speak for themselves.

Steps to get it done:

Positive emotional well-being has a positive impact on the whole of society, such as the ‘happiness index’. It also reduces the negative impact and financial cost of poor mental health and emotional well-being experienced by every government department. They spend billions annually, the private sector also suffers losses. The absence of positive support reflects in myriad costs of suicide and exclusion as a pathway to prison. This model directly addresses these issues at source - offering low cost in school therapeutic support. In the pilot school on average 40 children receive weekly therapy to help them with issues ranging from parental separation and domestic abuse to bullying and acute shyness.
