The FeelGood Factory is a Social Enterprise providing a place for people to meet and exercise in a non judgemental, non competitive way. Our toning equipment is suitable for people of all ages and abilities, and our facility also encourages members to meet and socialise with each other, therefore improving both mental and physical well being. Unfortunately, we are close to having to shut this excellent facility due to increasing costs and we are desperately seeking funding to stop this from happening. If we do have to close, our current members who are unable to use traditional gym equipment due to their various health conditions will have no where else to go. Any money raised would be used to promote and market the facility to a wider audience to encourage higher membership and therefore keep the facility open. We would also use the money to add more activities such as Tai Chi, Yoga and other low impact exercise classes which would benefit the health of people in the community.
What we'll deliver:
Why it's a great idea:
The FeelGood Factory was the first facility of its kind in South Wales and is the only one in Rhondda Cynon Taf. It was the brainchild of Sally Anderson who, due to her Multiple Sclerosis became unable to use the local traditional gym setting and so researched alternatives. Sally went to buy some toning equipment for her personal use but was so impressed with the range of accessible equipment, that the idea for the FeelGood Factory was born. Members of the gym range in age and ability. We have many members with long term health conditions such as Parkinsons, M.S. and Arthritis. We also have members that use wheelchairs or have sensory impairments ... all of these people would have no where else to go to exercise or socialise without this facility. Some of our members are socially isolated, they live alone and see no-one from one day to the next, so the gym is a place to come and make new friends, chat and socialise in a friendly and welcoming environment.
Steps to get it done:
In addition to the gym, we also have 2 therapy rooms and a team of skilled therapists offering a wide range of holistic therapies including Reiki, Reflexology and Massage (Indian head, hot stone, warm bamboo, aromatherapy, Swedish). There are also beauty and pampering spa treatments available such as facials, manicures and pedicures, nail enhancements (acrylics, gel polish etc), waxing, spray tans and eye and brow treatments ... where else can you get this all under one roof?
