The project will focus on repairing plasterwork on the internal walls and ceilings in the interior of the building. The plasterwork is in a poor state in several ceilings and walls, and needs removing, and replastering in order to ensure that the building can remain a home for our community
What we'll deliver:
- Repair internal plasterwork to walls and ceilings
Why it's a great idea:
The main benefit of this project, in bringing the interior of the building up to scratch, is to allow the building to stay open, so that it may continue to provide space for the numerous community-based weekly activities, including Sunday church worship. The survival of the church building will greatly benefit the local area by continuing to provide a place for people to meet up, keep active and reduce isolation and loneliness. The building offers local community groups the chance to take up the offer of affordable facilities, easily reached from their homes. Groups that benefit hugely from this space include 5 thriving scouting groups, a baby and toddler group, a popular communtity choir and art group, yoga, and Slimming World.
The church organisation is very proactive in helping new and existing provisions in the area thrive and grow. It has helped support groups get back up and running after Covid, and has identified and encouraged new groups looking to form.
