Your projects. Our communities. Kent’s recovery.
We are currently partnering with a developer who is building some new flats in our area that also include a community room. We are also collaborating with Folkestone Town Council so that this area can be used for the greater good of the community. We would like to install an outside defibrillator because the nearest one is at the harbour a long way away from us. We have a diverse community which contains a well established primary school called St. Eanswhythes and a block of assisted living flats for the older generation. As the nearest defibrillator is at the bottom of the old street we feel that there is a great need for a closer one our community. We have spoken to the developer and they are willing to install a power supply free of charge for it and we have already had donations from our community of £310. We have obtained quotes for a fully maintained defibrillator complete with training which costs £2500. This is a need we want to fullfill with your help
What we'll deliver:
Why it's a great idea:
We have young children at the school and the older generation in Glendale the assisted living block of flats which would benefit from the installation of this piece of equipment in the case of an emergency. We also have a lot of visitors and tourists to our area which would benefit as well.
Steps to get it done:
Th nearest defibrillator is at the harbour in Folkestone and if there is an emergency in our location the helper would have to run down the Old High Street to get it and then run (if they can) back up the Old High Street to treat the individual who is having a cardiac arrest. Time is of the essence when someone has a cardiac arrest so the time to get to and back would be catastrophic. There really is a great need for one in our area as we have a lot people within a half mile radius
