Saltworks Skate and Cycle

Re-imagine a waste of space into a vibrant community facility by challenging our residents to dig for victory so they can get on their bikes. We're going to cancel out the ASB and poor life chances

Saltworks Farm could be so much more than an empty playing field that is home to some Saturday football and persistent anti social behaviour. By reimagining the periphery of the area we could motivate the locals to reimagine why they want to visit this location rather than keep away. This super area sits in the heart of a super output area that is sadly neglected by all statutory agencies until it is targeted for all the wrong reasons. Making this home to some fabulous facilities to encourage young people to skate and cycle in all its forms is just the start to healthier lives and a more vibrant community that has tons of individual resilience but little community capacity. We want to change this and make it easier for the big funding agencies to get behind a creative space hive for Frodsham, where the 'bee' is the historic symbol of our town

What we'll deliver:

  • A new in ground skate and box facility
  • Structured paths to encourage people to walk, cycle, push and play their daily mile
  • New benches, planting and tons of trees to encourage multiple generations to share this space

Why it's a great idea:

Confidence: that this community 'can do' things that will include everyone and provide a positive outlet for everyone energies. Reduce loneliness and isolation for many who are 'parked' on incapacity benefits, trapped in poor health and lack confidence post pandemic. Breathe lived experience into what a healthy lifestyle feels like Make the environmental options around climate emergency a reality and literally walk, skate and cycle the talk

Steps to get it done:

  • Reduce police response to ASB in the area by 20%

This is really a community capacity opportunity. This has to feel different to the past because this is all about what we can do together rather than what some other bodies might do to us and for us. We're going to need some stabilisers on this project which is where the Spacehive funding will come in. Once we're got our plan it will be an 'everyone-in' approach to find places from which we can and we will drag in funding
