Sorry this project was unsuccessful, we did not reach our fundraising goal.

Following on from our hugely successful Test Drive the Classics FREE concert in 2012, we are planning to present another concert for new classical audiences, BUT we need help to make this concert happen.

A full scale concert with such a prestigious orchestra can be very expensive. The money we raise will enable us to stage the concert to secure musicians and cover orchestra costs and ensure that we are able to offer free tickets so that it can be truly accessible to all. The Hexagon will be providing the venue and covering the venue costs and all staffing so all of the money we are aiming to raise will go towards the cost of the concert and orchestral fees.

What we'll deliver:

  • Present a concert by the Royal Philharmonic Orchestra for new audiences, with FREE tickets.
  • Reward your pledge to say 'Thank you' for supporting Classical Music Alive in Reading. (see below for details)

Why it's a great idea:

Many people have lots of preconceptions about classical music which prevents them from attending concerts, some people believe that classical concerts can be stuffy and elitist and just not for them so we want the opportunity to dispel some of those myths and prove them wrong. Our aim is to present a free concert exclusively for people who have never been to a concert before, but not just any concert it will be a full scale classical concert with the internationally renowned Royal Philharmonic orchestra. Through Classical Music Alive, concerts like this one are available right here in Reading, without the need to travel into London, at an additional expense.

Steps to get it done:

  • It will be presented in the same way as our usual concerts - making it a genuine experience.
