WSS a registered charity principally to develop kids rowing has the opportunity to buy 20 acres of land. With £50000 we can secure our future. The long term aim is to get 10% of the 40000 kids at school in Wiltshire doing indoor rowing and 10% of those competing on the water. We have a plot of land in mind but if not this it will be applied to another. In the absolute worst case scenario the funds would go to securing long leasehold space to get away from the day to day existance and allow some development of the club. This is not though seen as a likely simply a prudent fall back position.

What we'll deliver:

  • We have plans made up for a super new boathouse but need the land to put this on. Currently we rent and we want to buy

Why it's a great idea:

Rowing is Britains greatest sport and its the one though that has a public schooly image. We want to smash that and bring it within reach of every secondary school child.

Steps to get it done:

  • For the next phase we need Freehold land
  • Its already happening.
  • We have boats for 80 people, have 18 indoor rowing machines in 3 schools

We want to provide 6 indoor rowing machines for the 22 Wiltshire state Schools:

To encourage the schools to each have a couple of rowing experienced teachers.
To have indoor rowing competitions between the schools.
To have recreational rowing on the water.
To get some racing between schools locally and to take up the foundations already laid by our crews
recent bronze medal at the National Rowing Championships of Great Britain.
To get Wiltshire kids to Rio.
