Rowan Park's public open space is a rare stretch of green in an otherwise grey suburban area. It is large, but poorly planted and maintained. With a little TLC it will become the heart of a community.

This project will transform the existing park in five phases. 1. New equipment will be purchased for the children's play area. Swings will be installed to make the play area more enjoyable for children. 2. Resistance-based green gym fitness stations manufactured by Proludic will be installed in various locations around the park. 3. A 100sqm wooden deck will be built for picnics and outdoor exercise classes such as yoga or pilates. 4. A floating duck island will be installed to provide a safe nesting place for the growing population of water birds. 5. A lockable, secure shed will be installed which will be used to store tools and maintenance equipment. Residents at the development, who are represented and coordinated by the Residents Association, will also volunteer to maintain the newly improved space in the future.
What we'll deliver:
Why it's a great idea:
Rowan Park is a new development of 225 homes. It is filled with people who love where they live and care about it's success. It is a vibrant community, full of new and young families. The sound and sight of children, playing in the park and throughout the development is common and residents and local people are proud an protective of the new green space. However the developer of the site, Crest Nicholson, have left the site in poor condition and much needs to be done to make the park a more enjoyable and functional space for the community. The residents have therefore taken control of the problem themselves, forming a residents association and starting work on this project. This project will make Rowan Park a safer, more enjoyable and more pleasant place for those children and families. And it will make the park an attraction for other local residents.
