Berryfields PC undertook public consultation before plans for Roman Park were finalised. The general feeling was that tennis courts would be the most suitable sporting facility. These will be all-eather courts in permeable tarmac ‘en tout cas’ finish with a 10 foot green mesh fence surrounding. As they are remote from residential areas floodlights have been included which would help with security of the village hall. Benches will be positioned for players and spectators.
What we'll deliver:
Why it's a great idea:
The Roman Park will be a fantastic leisure facility for the residents of Berryfields and the greater area. The tennis courts will provide an activity that is currently only available locally in a limited way and through private clubs in surrounding villages. This will not only promote social interaction but will also provide a fantastic sports facility for both experts and novices.
Steps to get it done:
All residents will be able to use the courts and a tennis club could be set up if there was demand. However, it is envisaged that there will always be times when the courts will be open to the public for use at rates affordable to all.
