A series of workshops and performances will include members of Resonances (who are artists, musicians, dancers and poets) working with local artists and musicians. By collaborating with local art therapy organisations like Studio Upstairs, participants will be able to use art and music via The Vortex Jazz Club and extend their awareness of themselves through a broader view of the world. The workshops will be based out of award-winning Vortex, using the club, Gillett Square (outside) and digital interaction (especially relevant during lockdown). It evolves out of the Résonances live events, regularly at The Vortex and more recently online. Participants will therefore be involved in a multi-disciplinary and multi-interactive experience, being able to simultaneously experience the different art forms and learn how to link them together. Audiences will be presented with an immersive experience. In this way, it will help self-awareness.
What we'll deliver:
Why it's a great idea:
Artists to immerse in a multi-genre workshop and learn about interaction and improvisation. Exciting opportunities for audiences to experience various performances online and digitally. A series of pieces of visual art which can then be exhibited. An improved sense of wellbeing for participants. A template which can be extended either in Dalston or in other locations.
Steps to get it done:
About the space
Gillett Square is a public space created by GLA in 2005. On one side is the Dalston Culture House, where this project is based as well as two of the main partners. It is an area where there are many who feel the need for support.
