We are proposing to hold a community day in late March/April for replanting the flower beds and would like plant donations & several experienced gardeners to assist residents with planting. We are looking for: Shrubs: As many as we can get, I estimate 150 would plant out the area. The species we want are listed below. Euonymus ‘emerald gold’ in 5 litre container grown stock, Aucuba ‘japonica’ in 5 litre container grown stock, Lavendula ‘stoechus’ in 5 litre container grown stock, Euonymus ‘silver queen’ in 5 litre container grown stock, Ceonothus ‘blue sapphire’ in 5 litre container grown stock, Hebesinto gaps in 5 litre container grown stock, Phormium ‘pink cookianum’ in 5 litre container grown stock Bulbs: a bulb mix of crocus, iris and daffodils. Mulch & Bark 2 no. Gardeners to donate 1 day of their time Food and non-alcoholic drink for volunteers

What we'll deliver:

  • A range of 150 shrubs (see above list)
  • 2 no. Gardeners to donate 1 day of their time
  • A gardener to review suitability of shrub list
  • Mulch & Bark
  • A range of 150 bulbs (see above list)
  • Food and non-alcoholic drink for volunteers

Why it's a great idea:

The project will bring residents from neighbouring buildings together and improve the public realm. We are hoping that we can involve all local residents, in particular, those in the Parker, Pittmann and Kimmins Buildings. We would also like Hyde Housing who manage the estate, Groundscapes who manage the ground maintenance, Tescos whos entrance is adjacent to the planters, and the Salmon Centre to be part the community day, along with any other community groups or businesses that have an interest. By getting local children involved we hope they, their families and friends will appreciate and respect the planters and general public realm.

Steps to get it done:

  • 50 Shrubs
  • 100 Shrubs
  • 150 Shrubs
  • Volunteer gardener
  • Mulch + Bark
