WISE Education Project, founded in 1982 and working in partnership with Brent Council, provides day care facilities for the elderly in Brent and the neighbouring Boroughs. We provide a safe, warm and friendly environment where people can meet others and socialise, enjoy a nourishing healthy meal, and participate in a range of social activities including chair-based exercises, art work and other activities which improve the wellbeing of our elderly community. Our centre has specialist equipment and furniture suitable for the needs of the elderly. Our staff have 30 years of experience working for and with the elderly and are experienced and devoted workers. We provide excellent care and understanding when dealing with elderly people. Our reminisence room provides a calming environment for those in early phase dementia.

As our population continues to age we want to continue to provide a safe environment for them to meet. In particular those with varying mobility issues and those at many stages of dementia and mental health. WISE is very committed to providing this valuable service to the elderly community. Being at home alone all day does nothing to improving the mental wellbeing of our elders. Offering a social outlet where like-mined members can enjoy each other's company is our continued objective.

VolunteerWISE – West Indian Self Effort
We are a registered charity and a limited company that have been established since 1982. We are based in the London Borough of Brent. Whilst initially established for the African and Caribnean Community, we provide day care facilities toall the elderly people who live in the borough of Brent and the neighbouring boroughs.
Our primary mission is to provide a safe and friendly environment where our local senior citizens can experience a few hours respite from the loneliness of being home alone.
We offer a reliable, affectionate and friendly environment where people can gather or meet others and socialise, enjoy a nourishing healthy meal and take part in a range of social activities.
Listening and talking to service users and others play an important role in presenting an excellent service of care and addressing the needs of service users, the local community and surrounding Boroughs.
One of our aims is to promote the independence and wellbeing of older people within the Brent and neighbouring Community.
The main service that we provide is the Day Care services over 4 days per week. We have a range of activities including chair-based exercises, art work, bingo sessions, visits from local theatrical and dance groups , as well as visits from various health groups presenting discussing issues of wellbeing such as breast, cervical, prostate and colon cancers and also diabetic care.
In the summer, we arrange visits to the seaside as well as visits to local historic sites and gardens. We also have fundraising events such as the summer barbeque and christmas lunce which are open to the general public and local delegates
Our centre has specialist equipment and furniture suitable for the needs of the elderly. Our staff have over 30 years’ experience of working for and with the elderly. We have a board of trustees who have the strategic responsibility and a manager who is responsible for the day to day management of the centre. We have a small pool of experienced staff and volunteers who provide the direct service to those attending the day care.
Project Owner: The Project Owner takes legal responsibility for receiving and spending the funds raised and ensuring the project is delivered.
