We require financial assistance to buy specific material with which to make hospital scrubs and cover volunteer fuel and subsistence expenses to undertake essential logistic work to the vulnerable..
What we'll deliver:
Why it's a great idea:
Speed is of the essence. We are in week 4 of the pandemic cycle with the peak expecting to happen at week 7. The number of people being infected by the virus is roughly doubling every 3 days. In week one there were 1934 calls to the DCLT Central Hub of people seeking assistance of which 469 people required collection and deliveries. If that number follows the trend of the spread of the virus the demand will be immense. We are delivering meals and food parcels to those deemed vulnerable by various agencies linked to the local authority and community groups. We are also providing Handyman services for people being discharged from hospital to free up much needed beds. And in addition we have a dedicated team of volunteers coordinating and making scrubs for both Doncaster and Bassetlaw hospitals to try to address the shortage in supply for scrubs to frontline NHS staff during the 2020 COVID-19 Epidemic.
Steps to get it done:
Refurnish has been delivering this scope of work since our foundation in 2003. We need to do what we do best and just get on with it. We need to be enabled to provide our front line services within our communities. We apply to our communities for financial support with this project as they ultimately they will be the beneficiaries.
