We want to build a fantastic outdoor play area for our inclusive family hub & café, for parents and carers to socialise, go to classes, get advice and play with their kids.

Our project will convert disused squash courts and outdoor space into thriving family hub. We will provide a vibrant new location for families: A) To eat and play- healthy, reasonably priced refreshments will be available alongside educational and inclusive indoor and outdoor toys. B) To take part in baby/preschool classes, as well as activities for children up to age 11 (Year 6) during the day. Evening options such as mindfulness, art and yoga will be available for older children. C) To gain vital advice from qualified professionals or signposting to relevant local services. We have a midwife waiting in the wings for antenatal sessions and links with a sling library. There is an urgent need locally for a versatile and inclusive location for each of these three priorities. We are owned by a Community Leader, Teacher and Cambridge Graduate with a very active local profile- with a very soft launch, Playhubs has gained over 600 followers in three weeks with no formal marketing.
What we'll deliver:
Why it's a great idea:
Local families are already hugely enthusiastic about a hub where they can socialise, learn and play, with a multifunctional café. 1. We will especially showcase healthy, delicious and affordable snacks and drinks. Options locally for healthy sweet and savoury snack food for children are few and far between. 2. We will increase the local provision of educational classes for children from birth as well as providing parenting focussed classes on a daily basis. We will provide a huge range of ad hoc and affordable activities. 3. We will build on the outdoor learning and play that has been embraced by families during the pandemic, to avoid a return to extensive indoor play and screen time. Our play area will be the only inclusive, Montessori inspired public garden in the area. Instead of a focus on what we’ve missed and the difficulties 2020, the hub will showcase how brilliant and inspiring our children are and be a truly family friendly destination.
