We have 13 young homeless aged between 16 - 24 who live here at our project. We are a non profit group and raise our own funds to pay for essential everyday items. We make items out of recycled wood such as reindeers at Xmas and planters in the spring to sell at community events and we also give free to local old aged homes etc. A workshop is needed with heating and light so we can make these items all year round as our production is very much weather based and living in wales it rains a lot! We also donate 10% other homeless charities.
What we'll deliver:
Why it's a great idea:
It is project managed entirely by the young homeless which helps build confidence and self esteem. Team meetings are held on a regular basis to discuss the running of the social enterprise and how the money is spent. A workshop will help them to produce more items and really help them to start to believe that they have a great social enterprise idea that benefits themselves and the local community.
Steps to get it done:
They will learn to recycle wood and other items that would normally be thrown out and we will engage with other agencies such as MIND, WCADA and Caelas to be involved too.
