Altering and customising clothing that would otherwise go to landfill and not bio-degrade, into another use for yourself or your home. This project will take place within the local community in an expert environment to provide learning and exploration about the fashion industries cost on the planet by Couchman Bespoke. Couchman Bespoke is a sustainable tailoring brand that is dedicated to reduce the water usage and pollution caused from the fashion industry. Alongside a ready-to-wear men's collection, bespoke and alteration services are offered to anyone with any style of garment. This promotes conscious shopping, a way of consuming items that fit within your life and wardrobe without compromise, and encouraging people to have clothes fitted correctly after purchase prolonging the wear life of garments.

What we'll deliver:

  • Educate people on the worth of their clothing and lifestyle choices
  • Provide training in sewing skills
  • Re-imagine old clothing into something useful and reusable
  • Bring the local community together with a common goal
  • Offer an approachable local alterations service within Tower Hamlets

Why it's a great idea:

Part of the Couchman Bespoke business values is to reduce the environmental impact from the fashion industry. This project will help by educating people on the future path this industry needs to take and how their own commitments, however small, will have a great positive impact. The project will also have a great impact on the local and wider community through the teaching of sewing skills, exploration of ideas to help reduce the environmental impact of ourselves; and by providing a place to meet. With all of this new knowledge it is hoped that the community will go forth and share their new found knowledge further afield than just friends and family, starting a movement worldwide.
