Quad collective proposes itself to provide events and networking devices that aim to strengthen the discursive opportunities between creative groups and individuals that function in the North West. The events themselves will happen in an environment that promotes playfulness, without the need for the to become overly serious. By organising events in this way the collaborators will be able to discuss issues without the pressure of having a predetermined outcome. As a consequence of this, collaborations and networking structures could be the result of a discursive intervention rather than a conclusive end product. It is our ambition to host four events over the space of a month in Summer 2015, each one focussing around one of the pillars of quadrivium: Astronomy, Geometry, Arithmetic and Musicology.
What we'll deliver:
Why it's a great idea:
It will provide thinkers, see-ers, do-ers and graduates with a supporting network when it comes to leaving a university network, Quad will act to be used by artists and groups that function individually if they feel the need to extend out to collaborate. The project will take place in Liverpool City Centre, with each event taking place in different locations (or multiple locations for one event). It is important for the events to take place here as we will be asking people from the North West to collaborate and participate. This way it is easier logistically for people to get to. We are looking for different locations for each event, including pubs, bars, events spaces and smaller galleries. Locations will depend on funding, however we are keen to use funding to support independent local spaces, to support local enterprises. The 'festival' will conclude with an collaborative exhibition as a result of the workshops and discussions undertaken during the four weeks.
