London Borough of Redbridge

The Council attributes 15% of all funds collected from the Community Infrastructure Levy (CIL) to a Neighbourhood Fund which is to be spent by residents/community groups on local development of the neighbourhood. The Neighbourhood Fund can be used to fund a wide range of projects empowering communities to deliver priority supporting infrastructure and development.

The Council welcomes projects which support the key objectives in the Growing A New Redbridge: A Partnership Plan for 2025 which are;

1) Regenerate the borough

2) Be a great place to live with family

3) Tackle the root cause of our social challenges

The projects need to meet at least one of these key objectives to be considered for match-funding from CIL. The projects should be inclusive, open and bringing value to all in the community. Projects also need to consider helping make Redbridge a child-friendly and young- people friendly borough.

We are looking for inclusive community-led projects that support the Growing A New Redbridge: A Partnership Plan for 2025 plan.

We want projects to be successfully delivered, positively benefitting the local Redbridge community. Regeneration is about much more than bricks and mortar.

• It is about strengthening our communities and ensuring that they have a stake in our new high streets.
• It is about designing places that improve health and reduce crime, and capturing the financial benefits of new development to provide imaginative support and dignity to our older and disabled residents.
• It is about building green, safe, sustainable places and encouraging the creativity of our residents so they can make the most of the change around them.

To be par tof the programme, your projects meet at least one of the key objectives: 

1. Regenerate the borough 

2. Be a great place to live with family

3. Tackle the root cause of our social challenges

Projects will go live on the Redbridge Spacehive website and the public will be able to show their support by “liking” projects, pledging financial donations and by pledging volunteer time if in the project wishlist.

The Selection Panel will review all proposed projects on a single day which will be at least three weeks after the deadline date for new project proposals. The Selection Panel will assess how the qualifying projects perform against the criteria and assign scores. The assessment criteria will be published online to view.

The Council will match-fund successful projects by up to:

• 100% for small sized projects
• 60% for medium
• 50% for large sized projects 

However, the Council reserves the right to pledge additional funding for projects from disadvantaged communities; in priority areas; where there is significant community benefit; and where it meets corporate priorities and need.

Projects will continue to fundraise online to meet their total target through crowdfunding pledges.

Projects where the amount of money needed is under £500 can apply direclty for funding without needing to crowdfund - download the micro grant application here.

As part of Community Crowdfunding, Redbridge council, though the through the Neighbourhood Community Infrastructure Levy (CIL), can pledge different amounts to campaigns, depending on the size of the project. 

• Small - targets from £501 up to £1,000 (council can pledge up to 100% of project target)
• Medium - targets between £1,001 and £8,000 (council can pledge up to 60% of project target)
• Large  - targets over £8,001 (council can pledge up to 50% of project target up to a maximum of £10,000)

Projects under £500 - for mirco projects, up to £500 in value, people can apply for CIL-funding through a separate route which will not involve crowdfunding .
