We need help to re-roof our clubhouse.. Once the roofwork is done, the electricals and refurbishment of the club will follow. Nothing can proceed without roof replacement.
Sorry this project was unsuccessful, we did not reach our fundraising goal.
The club caters for leisure activities for any persons in the area.
It occupies a prime spot by the bowling greens in the Botanic Gardens,Southport.
We not only have our own snooker and bowling competitions but ,importantly, host the five Probus parks bowls teams. Additionally we have trained members who coach youngsters in bowls. The club is also open for bridge, darts and other social activities.
As full access cannot be gained due to the roof's condition,our activities are severely curtailed and unless funding is successful we will not be able provide the foregoing facilities to the community.and the club will close.

Why it's a great idea:
Funding will enable the club to reopen fully, not just for existing members who have been loyal to the club but will undoubtfully attract new members. Additionally we will be able to continue encouraging youngsters who we hope will be future members and of course host other teams who would have difficulty finding other facilities.
T o fully reopen the club means we could continue to provide competitions,entertainment and socials.It would also enhance the general area of the park.

Steps to get it done:
The club wish to complete the project in time for the start of the bowling season in march 2015.
Due to cuts the local authiority will not provide funding but were persuaded to shore up the roof for limited access.
We have 10 year lease dated April 2014 from the local authority with option for renewal.

VolunteerIn 1948 the Botanic Gardens Mens Society was formed for older men and situated in the Botanic Gardens, Southport, provided a club for social and sport purposes. It had a large membership enjoying bowls, snooker, cards and social events. Latterly, in order to bring it up to date with activities and age groups, the name was changed to the Botanic Gardens Sports and Social Club. It hosts the five Probus parks bowling teams and some members are registered to coach youngsters from the local primary school in bowls which has been a great success.
Unfortunately, following a serious roof defect, the local authority wanted to close the club but were persuaded to shore the roof but only allowed limited access. This has resulted in loss of members and consequently income.
A new lease has been arranged with the authority, but without funding, the club, a registered charity, will not be able to re-roof the building and it will have to close. This would be a serious loss of a community asset particularily to the children, our future members.
The club require funding of £17000 and we can pledge £3000 from club funds and some small donations. This will enable us to re-roof and effect necessary internal repairs and return the club to an attractive venue and undoubtfully an increased membership.
