Iver Community Childcare are a not-for-profit community interest company who provide high quality childcare for children in Iver and the surrounding areas. We have four years experience of delivering holiday play schemes through our team of highly qualified childcare professionals. We have worked closely with the children who attend our breakfast and after school club to devise six jam packed weeks of sport, arts and crafts, dance and drama, cookery, trips and fun!
The cost of our play scheme is £25.00 a day and we work closely with local schools to offer £5.00 a day places to children who are in receipt of school meals or who have been identified by their school as being in need. We operate in an area which is in the most deprived 47% in England and where 18% of children live in income deprived families. A donation of £100.00 would enable one child to attend the summer play scheme for a week during the holidays at a cost of only £25.00 to their parent or carer.
What we'll deliver:
Why it's a great idea:
Iver Community Childcare CIC operates in an area which is in the most deprived 47% in England, is ranked 4 lowest out of 40 SOAs in the district and, where 18% of children live in income deprived families. Families need affordable childcare in holiday periods in order to access work or training or to obtain a break during the long Summer holidays. Transport is also an issue for non-car owners and non-drivers. Transport links are expensive and infrequent so a service within the locality is required. Our service benefits and meets the needs of local families in our community, offering flexible, affordable childcare (especially where they have children of both nursery and primary school ages) during the summer holidays.
The focus of our play scheme is promoting active lifestyles and healthy living. Every day we offer a programme of sports, drama, cookery, crafts, team work and survival skills. Some of our children don't have the chance to go on holiday and we also offer a weekly trip.
Steps to get it done:
This will be our 20th play scheme and the programme has been developed through consultation with the children who attend The Launchpad after school club. There are no other provisions in the local area running all day play schemes throughout the summer which encompass a variety of activities from music to arts and craft to sport alongside free play activities. We have had very positive from parents, carers and children from previous play schemes and each new scheme improves due to responses from current service users on how we should develop the service. Our initial service offering was set up due to local demand following local authority feasibility studies. All children who attend our scheme are asked to complete a short questionnaire at the start and end of the programme. We will use this knowledge to shape future services and monitor the imapct in terms of increase to the number of service users and their satisfaction levels.
