Up to 10 children from among the BAEM and Spanish Speaking Latin American community, will be taught to play musical instrument, dance and to perform choreography after a number of rehearsals. The project will promote cultural awareness, skills development and understanding among the young people of African and Latin American descent. This will encourage effective communication among families. It will also bring relaxation from stress for all. Young people can meetup and socialise healthily; meet organisation's After-School project objectives; Relevant Gov't objectives to facilitate post-COVID relief would have been met. We hope to continue with this project to constantly help the kids to develop trust and confidence among themselves. It shall also create opportunity support tutoring English language and Maths and homework support. Publicised by website, social media, and invitation at local schools and community groups.
What we'll deliver:
Why it's a great idea:
At the beginning of the project after an arduous and exhausting school year for children and parents that resulted from the pandemic we decided to do something for the community that will help everyone in this process of recovery and union with a single objective of making families not see this year only the negative but also find the positive part which focuses on the uniting all, mutual help, as well as the desire and perseverance to progress under any circumstances. Plata d'Salsa Latina will take this idea further. It will focus on getting children to stay active; teaching them new dances and cultures from other Latin American countries, to help them develop intercommunication between children of different cultures and languages and to enrich the geographical knowledge in these children in order to establish friendly ties between them; sharing cultural and language experiences; while achieving that through dance. It will foster health and mental wellbeing.
Steps to get it done:
This educative and informative project both the children and the parents will enhance their wellbeing. During this 12-weeks period the children will remain very active and stimulated to learning and to exercise physically each week All pandemic protocols will be respected as far as they are in place.
