Air purifying plant workshops for schools in the Church Street area

We would like to deliver planting workshops in three schools across Westminster whereby over 1000 children will have the opportunity to plant a Spider plant (Chlorophytum comosum) - widely known to cleanse and purify air. All children will take their plant home to grow. They will learn about the benefits of growing Spider plants inside their homes and be plant ambassadors; sharing knowledge with their families about these air cleansing house plants. During the workshop, they will each plant up, or pot on, a Spider plant in a pot which they can personalise with chalk pens. We will also create an info sheet on spider plants which all children will take home with their plants.
What we'll deliver:
Why it's a great idea:
The majority of children in Westminster live in flats, without gardens, so growing houseplants is all inclusive and may inspire many families to grow other houseplants. Spider plants are very easy to grow and care for; they are not fussy plants and will grow practically anywhere in our homes. In time, the tough plants will produce baby 'Spiderettes' which can be removed and potted up to grow more spider plants to share with family and friends. Having spider plants will contribute to fresher air in homes across Westminster.
