Help us to create a fantastic new play area designed to fire the imagination, promote physical exercise, and get families united in play.

Lower Basildon Idea stage

This project is preparing for fundraising. Click Like to show your support, or Follow for updates on this project's journey.

The project involves replacing the existing sand pit with a new and exciting large sand play area containing pirate play galleon and boats plus other themed play equipment,to give us our 'Pirate Island'.

We also want to replace the existing old paddling pool with a fantastic and fun water splash area where kids can let off steam and play with water jets and walk through fountains.

Our under fives play area will get a make over by installing rubberised surfacing painted with road markings for them to practise their driving skills in their pedal cars!

We also want to make improvements to our outdoor eating area so that those who are less energetic, or those that just need a rest, can enjoy their refreshments and watch the fun.

What we'll deliver:

  • We will be digging out the old sand pit to create a new, larger sand play area together with play equipment.
  • Fill in the old paddling pool and construct a new splash zone with rubberised safety surfacing.
  • Excavate soil in the under five's play area and install rubberised safety surfacing.
  • Demolish the existing walled area by the restaurant and create a new outdoor eating area.

Why it's a great idea:

We all know that physical exercise is good for children and gives them a great start to a full and active life.

It promotes well-being and a healthy lifestyle.

At a time when this issue is high on the agenda we want to do our part to inspire a generation who will find out that exercise can be lots of fun....... as well as tiring!

By providing a themed play area to stimulate the imagination; who knows, parents may get inspired too!!

Steps to get it done:

  • we will use a combination of contractors and Park staff.
