We are running a Spring Funding Round - Deadline the 1st May . See the 'About' tab for more info!
Ealing Council is to transfer 7 of 14 libraries to be community managed. This presents an excellent opportunity to develop a much broader offer of services to our community. The funding will support retention of this historic building in an area with limited community assets & focus. There is no obvious village centre, nor traditional meeting places e.g. pubs or places of worship. The original landowner was a quaker which determined limited social infrastructure. In the last 30 years, Perivale has experienced an influx of minority ethnic groups including Asian, Eastern European & Middle Eastern backgrounds. Our project will seek to ensure that ‘Perivale Hive’ offers a diverse & inclusive program connecting Perivale communities & supporting optimum quality of life & wellbeing. The library will be transformed into a vibrant, socially, economically & environmentally sustainable space run by & for community. A library service promoting digital inclusion will be part of the core service.
What we'll deliver:
Why it's a great idea:
Perivale Hive will provide a much needed catalyst that coalesces its local assets into a mutually reinforcing synergy. The area has a developing creative & business sector that currently operates parallel/separate from the local community. In an environment of increasingly scarce resources this project will encourage the innovative & entrepreneurial spirit of local people and stakeholders. Retaining this facility generates confidence & community pride crucial to cementing community bonds contributing to its socioeconomic wellbeing and sustainability. Perivale Hive will seek to work with the range of existing community, public& private partners (Selbourne Society, Friends on Horsenden Hill, Perivale Residents Association, Impact Theatre, Perivale Scouts and Perivale Community Centre and Perivale Festival) to add value, complement & where identified enhance the offer of services to our shared beneficiaries. We will work together to identify and develop new services for emerging needs.
