Make a difference in Redbridge
The money I raise will be used to build the demo kit. I will be running 5 free events. I will volunteer my time and cover any costs for these events. There will be 2 bike rides into nature throughout the winter months to bring people who love cycling together and at the end of the ride, the first will be a bike-powered cinema and second a bike-powered music event at the Climate Emergency Centre in Goodmayes to show a documentary followed by a constructive discussion. I will also take the equipment to 3 community markets at the climate emergency centre. I will use the equipment to show people how much energy it takes to charge a mobile phone, run some lights, etc. The main idea is to get people thinking and talking.
What we'll deliver:
Why it's a great idea:
So while this project gets people together around a specific theme, it creates a platform for people to discuss many related subjects. Specifically we will give people a chance to understand where energy comes from and how to choose more environmentally friendly options. More generically, just to have these conversations can reduce peoples anxiety and make them feel like they are contributing to society and welfare of the world.
Steps to get it done:
This is a pilot project to test the need and find partners who will help me with phase 2 (next year's funding round). In phase 2 I want to train people to build and maintain similar and more powerful systems. This team would then take the demo kits they make to schools, community groups, events and other places that have an interest in this idea.
