The ties that bind a community together rely on extended families, shared heritage and shared vision that cut across the clumsy structures of local government. Every church and street and block enjoys amazing networks of self help and empowerment.
However until now people only came together when they had a problem and they lacked the tools to collaborate to make real change. At Peckham-TV we have pioneered the use of community "intranets" which put local people in control of their lives, their community and their future.
What we'll deliver:
Why it's a great idea:
We share the experience of each project after implementation. This allows us to draw upon hard won experience of putting change into practice and allow future projects to stand on the shoulders of each collaborating project. We have helped community groups to
- incorporate social enterprises
- obtain charitable status
- win grant funding
- design community based "intranets" to put in place powerful structures to help projects sustain
- deliver distance learning leading to worthwhile work
Steps to get it done:
Collaboration requires a shift in perceptions, skills and aspirations. Every project we have assisted has undergone a profound change in the way they work.
