Split into several stages the idea of the project is fundamentally to restore the vessel known as the Pilot Cutter Seamark back to former glory so that she is preserved for future generations. Through such a project its first aims to work with local people to give provide them with a local work environment to have access to a realistic project where they can get hands-on experience, while at the same time restoring a piece of local history. Once restore the project aim to educate local people on the maritime and industrial heritage of Swansea and give local organisation (such as MVS, Sea Cadets, Swansea Watersports etc.) the change to train and work aboard the vessel.
What we'll deliver:
Why it's a great idea:
It will give local people (especially those not working or students) work experience on a real-time project which in turn will help them go on to jobs. It will give knowledge to local people on the maritime and industrial heritage of the local area, fitting in with the Copper Jack Community project nearby. It will give volunteering opportunities to local people to look after the vessel when it's open to the general public.
