The co-op is a franchisee of the award winning Cornerstone Inns, the majority of surplus profits is distributed to employees according to number of hours worked in the year across the cluster of pubs servicing the Weaver Valley community. 10% of profits is gifted to The Weaver Valley Trust with aligned charitable objects of furthering community led development and improving the cultural identity of The Weaver Valley towns. We believe customers ought to be given the chance to have a stake too given their patronage and support is of vital importance to the success of the cooperative. So for £100 you can become an investor member and enjoy a share of 10% of group profits according to how much you spend in a year. Initially we are looking for 1000 members from this pitch to raise £100K investments funds to invest in the estate, we are offering incentives with this pitch, every member receives one free drink every week for the 1st year! and invites to events, tastings, brewery trips as well

What we'll deliver:

  • Invest in creating new business opportunities within estate
  • Invest in refurbishing pub estate where required to maximise revenues

Why it's a great idea:

New careers for local people, as the pubs attract more customers, local and visitor spend increases and we need more staff! 100% of surplus trading profits stays in the local community, staff get the lion share according to how many hours they work, 10% goes to members according to how much they spend and a further 10% to The Weaver Valley Trust CIO to further community led development. This is part of a bigger picture, the Weaver Valley Trust charity aims to establish community benefit societies as trading subsidiaries to into community ownership to be operated on turnover led leases by CEOT Weaver Valley ltd Cooperative. Successful operations will generate significant rents for the BENCOM's to gift aid to the Weaver Valley Trust, rather than lining corporate pockets! each pub will generate tens of thousands per year for the trust to fund community projects and cultural development. This investment will facilitate new ways!

Steps to get it done:

  • Purchase and install events marquee for all year use behind the King's Lock to increase turnover
  • Re-furbish toilets and general decoration of The Princes Feathers the pub more attractive
  • Develop de bees coffee bar and community venue for use by young people through the week
  • Develop the accommodation at The Red Lion to develop new revenue streams operating as B&B
  • Develop the kitchen and food business at The Gate Inn to increase turnover and profitability

CEOT Weaver Valley enjoys the Cornerstone Inns brand name which won Community Pub Operator of the year at Publican Awards in 2016 and runner up in 2017. Cornerstone Inns was also runner up in the Best pub employer category in 2017. At the heart of Cornerstone's operating model is the hub and spoke structure which leaves operations of each pub in the hands of The Hosts; hospitality experts 100% focused on customer satisfaction, whilst all back office function for all pubs is provided by a central team responsible for everything that might get in between hosts and customers; Book keeping, Payroll financial management procurement marketing, compliance and human resourcing. The hub team schedule all employees across all sites using innovatory apps, a completely unique model that is only possible with a cluster of pubs serving a localised community like within the Weaver Valley. As the estate grows the hub operation will enjoy significant economies of scale leading to greater profits.
