Creation of a state of the art mobile music van to use in outreach projects targeting young people and adults across the UK. This will be the first of its kind in Europe where you can record your demo
Sorry this project was unsuccessful, we did not reach our fundraising goal.
Our previous DJ van that has engaged with over 50,000 young people and adults is now out of action and the costs of repairs are too extensive after 7 years on the road. In order to continue with our outreach projects we need to purchase and kit out a new vehicle. Our new van will be more up to date with industry standard equipment and has been designed to be the first of its kind on the roads in Europe. The last van was more focused towards radio presenting and showcasing. This new creation will be for musicians and artists to perform and the software and technology will enable them to record their demos straight from the streets so it will help bands, poets, singers, rappers and DJ's to not only engage but to leave with a recorded demo. We will also continue to engage with vulnerable young people and adults in high risk areas of gang involvement and street crime. We will also work closely with primary and secondary schools offering after school activities to children of all ages
What we'll deliver:
Why it's a great idea:
At a point where youth services are facing such severe cuts that they are being reduced so significantly if not being removed entirely our mobile music outreach service could not be needed more. All young people deserve the chance to fulfil their potential in life. Creative arts offers an excellent avenue to connect with those young people feeling trapped or not currently in any formal education training and employment. Our projects play an important role in helping them gain practical skills as well as boosting their confidence and feelings of self worth. We can offer them the chance to gain formal accreditations with a high number of our students becoming future volunteers or tutors with the Academy. We also act as a pathway back into education or training and therefore the positive impact our interaction has on their futures cannot be underestimated. All young people between 6 and 25 across the UK could potentially benefit from the provision of our services. We can go anywhere.
Steps to get it done:
The mobile operational side to our service is so important as it allows us to reach out and help so many more young people who aren't able to travel or access our studio. It also enables us to go out to sites where we can make a positive impact on the young people and their surrounding community. We are able to go out to Housing estates, community centres and hubs, local schools as well as being able to support community and charity outdoor events. One police report made after one of our housing estate projects showed a 70% reduction in youth crime. This is the real and credible benefit that our outreach projects can give to a community. Without our mobile outreach service we would not have had to chance to nurture so many young people and achieve so much success. We have taken young people with no experience of performing in front of an audience and developed them to perform at events such as the Boroughs United competition at the Hackney Empire where we have won the last 4 years
