A place of multi-story car parks and boarded-up buildings, Ozborne Street has a rich history and in the pre-war years was a thriving hub of life. This re-awakening of Osborne Street aims to re-inject life into the sleepy street through a unique arts festival with a 360 degree view of the city.
An event will take place on the top two stories of the Car Park - pop up cafes and stalls on the top deck, art exhibits the floor below. The event will be held in the transition of Spring to Summer, so as not to clash with other key festivals. Film Noir meets Bauhaus meets Jazz meets Sea Shanties and Klezmer, an immersive sculpture garden on a multi story roof.

What we'll deliver:

• Install temporary seating on the top floor of Osborne st. car park.
• Set up an open call to invite artists to display sculpture on the top floor of Osborne st. car park.
• Bring musicians to the top floor of Osborne st. car park.
• Bring pop-up cafes, a bar, and stalls to the top floor of Osborne st. car park.

Why it's a great idea:

Ahead of the City of Culture 2017, Hull needs more capacity to stage events and there is a clear need to develop across the City to ensure that the Arts is inclusive as possible.

Modern Art is not well supported across Hull. Where better to stage such an event than an area characterised by Brutalist architecture such as in Berlin; Barcelona and New York City?

For the city as a whole, this Event can be part of the overall audience building strategy ahead of the City of Culture year, and could galvanise interest in the arts ahead of this year.

Steps to get it done:

• Further develop the social media campaign (from Spacehive crowdfunding campaign) to agitate interest.
• Send out an open call to artists in Hull and further afield.
• Set up a board, or committee to manage the project.
• Complete a prospectus for supporting events; services; food and drink.
• This board will work with pre-existing advocates (Rob Bell, Dave Gawthorpe, Clare Holdstock).
• Work with pre-established bars and venues across the city.

For Developers, this can be a route to generate increased inward investment options and longer term improvements that can enhance value.
