This project was funded on 30 Apr 2018!

We will be applying for an events license once the crowdfunding is underway. In the unlikely event that the license is not secured, no money will be taken from backers. The theme for the festival will be equality and inclusion. A celebration of the diversity in Wirral. The event is free and aimed at everyone in Wirral regardless of age, gender, sexuality, disability, religion or cultural view. One Wirral Festival will showcase community choirs, dance groups, art groups, amateur dramatics societies, heritage and cultural groups, rambling groups, ‘friends of’ groups and much more. One Wirral will bring these diverse organisations together to raise awareness and create opportunities to engage the public on the day and afterwards. The day will be filled with performances, exhibitions, workshops, opportunities and children’s activities. It will be a family friendly event and held in Birkenhead Park.

What we'll deliver:

  • Inclusive, fun day out for everyone
  • Discover the exciting range of things going on in the Wirral community
  • Enjoy Wirral's diversity and share the same experience

Why it's a great idea:

It was a huge success last year! It will help make Wirral a more supportive and inclusive place to live. If it's more supportive and inclusive for specific groups then it will be a better place to live for everyone. Who wouldn't want to live in a place where everyone is treated equally and feels included? Birkenhead Park is a well-known Wirral location easily accessible via public transport. The event will be made as accessible as possible for everyone with portable ‘Changing Places’ toilet facilities and signers for the deaf provided.

Steps to get it done:

  • date confirmed with Birkenhead Park
  • 45 community stall holders booked
  • 20 perfomances/ workshops booked
  • infrastructure (marquees, staging etc.) confirmed
  • marketing plan
