Our aim is to turn a derelict piece of land, under a flyover, into a skate/bicycle park.

Since the closure of Woolwich Arsenal skate park and the skate park facility at Connaught estate, our members and Thamesmead residents have been left without a safe bicycle or skate sport facility within reach. The nearest safe space for wheeled sports is over four miles away at Danson Park. This has led to an increase in young cyclists using the roads and pavements in Thamesmead to participate in their sport. Unfortunately, this has led to an increase in reports of anti social behaviour and the extremely unsafe practice of ‘swerve wheeling’; this is where a cyclist rides towards an oncoming vehicle and swerves at the very last minute.
What we'll deliver:
Why it's a great idea:
The area where the track is to be built is one of the most deprived in the country, with few opportunities for purposeful activities/ the idea came from the young people involved in anti-social behaviour themselves/ it will increase the fitness levels of the local community/ the bicycle riding by our members will form part of their BTEC (Business & Technology Education & Council) Engineering course/ the track will be safe and secure/ the activities will be overseen by our, fully qualified instructors
