Offord Road is on a mission to turn our street from grey to GREEN, making it a more livable neighbourhood for all its residents, including our urban wildlife. One simple step we can take is to put bird and bat boxes in some of the trees along the road. Bats are having a tough time finding food to eat, and many of their natural roosting places are being damaged and destroyed. Building a bat box gives them somewhere safe to roost, raise their pups and sleep during the day. The same is true of birds. Natural nest sites on which many of our bird species depend are fast disappearing as gardens and woods are tidied and our houses are better maintained. Putting up a nestbox gives birds a safe environment to rear their young. Let's buy and put up four bird and four bat boxes in trees along Offord Road.
What we'll deliver:
Why it's a great idea:
Blue tits are one of our most instantly recognisable garden birds. Their blue, yellow, white and green plumage makes them a very attractive visitor to our street. Imagine the sky above our street filled with more beautiful birds!
