For 14 years Double Impact has been giving people with drug and alcohol problems the choices and the tools necessary to change their lives for the better.
Addiction affects people from all walks of life and the reasons behind it can be complex. Our service users have often lost their home, their health, their job, family, friends, confidence and hope. Recovery is a long-term process; without the right support at the right time people can return to drinking or using and the cycle of devastation starts again. The costs of this to the individual, to their loved ones and to the wider community are immense.
Double Impact steps in to break this cycle by dealing with all the issues facing people trying to recover; we provide one-to-one support, groups and courses to build self-esteem and skills for employment, housing support, specialist debt advice, volunteering experience and advice for family members. These activities are all delivered within safe settings which allow recovering people to share information and inspiration with one another and, crucially, build a new social life which doesn’t lead back to addiction.
The impact of our work goes far beyond those we help directly; recovery for the individual also relieves the great distress suffered by their families and friends and reduces the burden upon local health, social care and criminal justice services.
