New ramps for the EYE skatepark!

Minehead EYE CIC By Minehead EYE CIC

And so for our next project...we want to update our much-loved skatepark. It needs refreshing to keep pace with the talents of its users. By popular demand we want to add a funbox, mini ramp and more!

Minehead Delivery stage

£1,080
pledged of £6,610

Sorry this project was unsuccessful, we did not reach our fundraising goal.

Our skatepark users return again and again to use (and wear out) the facilities we provide. We want always to make things bigger, better, more challenging and new. And by popular demand, there are a couple of things that we really want to add to the park. These include a mini ramp, a fun box and some new obstacles. It won't cost much - the infrastructure is already there - but it will make a big difference, and will reinforce our status as the best park for many miles around.

What we'll deliver:

  • Buy or build a fun box
  • Buy or build a new mini ramp
  • Add other obstacles to be determined by park users

Why it's a great idea:

It's a great idea because sitting still is never a good one. We want to move forward, change, adapt and refresh, and that means finding ways to make the park even more exciting than it is already. Plus, let's be honest, even a purpose built skatepark takes a bit of a pounding day to day and if we don't look after it and look after our users by providing more challenges it'll all too soon get tired and lose its magic. For Minehead EYE, the skatepark is the mainstay of our offering - we simply can't afford to ignore its importance or let it get worn out, no matter what other exciting new facilities we manage to put in place (like the up-coming bouldering room for example!). Without a skatepark we are nothing so we will always need to keep it fresh and fun.

Steps to get it done:

  • We will crowd-fund most of the costs.
  • We will work with young users to bid for additional funds
  • We will hold one of our now infamous lock-ins

We know that it can be done and that the amazing community of West Somerset and beyond will get behind us to keep delivering what the young people want and deserve.
