Petticoat Square Gardening Club wants to make the Podium eco-friendly! We will update the planters that have seen better days and install a Hot Composter to make sure no green waste leaves the site!

The planters in Podium Gardens are falling apart and need replacing. Petticoat Square Gardening Club want to create new planters so that the residents can enjoy the Gardens for years to come! The members of the Gardening Club will be creating the planters themselves in the small workshop that we have created. We want more residents to get involved in making bird boxes and bug hotels for the Podium! We also want to install a Composter in addition to the ones we have made ourselves, to ensure that no green waste leaves the site!

The Gardening Club are committed to making Podium Gardens eco-friendly for years to come. By installing a composter we can ensure that no green waste leaves the site and we have a brilliant source of soil! The new planters will allow our residents to enjoy our wonderful Gardens for next summer, with new planting due to take place in the Spring!

VolunteerWe are the Petticoat Square Gardening Club, a constituted voluntary organisation of mainly retired residents living on the Middlesex Street Estate in the City of London.
We became a Gardening Club 5 years ago when the Parks and Garden Department decided that the Podium Gardens were no longer their responsibility.
In 2018 we entered the City in Bloom competition and won a prize for our efforts.
Our goals are:
We already have a number of nest boxes which have attracted a variety of birds and we intend to build more.
