Our Sustainable Outdoor Nursery will provide children with a natural and engaging environment for learning and play. It will feature a large, natural play area where little people can run, explore, and discover, as well as dedicated areas for gardening, nature crafts, and environmental exploration. The little people will be able to engage with nature, improve their physical and mental health, and develop their social, emotional, and cognitive skills. They’ll also make new friends and have fun in a safe and supportive environment. We'll even provide good quality, eco-friendly cold and wet weather kits to ensure all little people stay warm. The Outdoor Nursery will support the local community, providing jobs and training, partnering with local businesses and sustainable British businesses to ensure we can make this a real eco community hub.
What we'll deliver:
Why it's a great idea:
In our area, there are no outdoor nurseries or preschools, and of the nurseries and preschools that do exist, they only have limited outdoor provisions, and most are fully booked with long waiting lists. Much evidence shows how important time in nature is to children. We have talked to local parents and found many whose little people are struggling with traditional early years settings, and we feel opening an outdoor nursery is the right step to make a difference. Our nursery will be sustainable and eco-friendly, providing little people and their families with support and training in outdoor activities and sustainability. We plan to hire passionate local people and help to train and qualify them, creating a positive work culture where all are valued. The nursery will create links with local businesses and sustainable British businesses to build partnerships and boost the local economy. We will rewild the area to help with local biodiversity.
Steps to get it done:
We will start in the area around Carlisle and Brampton. However, we plan to expand and open more nurseries in the surrounding area where needed and eventually across the UK. We are keen to connect with landowners who want to see an outdoor nursery on their land, which would benefit the local area. We also plan to start funding, giving low- and no-income families access to quality outdoor provisions.
