We will commission the Lewisham School of Muralism to collaborate with local schools, keen artists and the Friends of Island History Trust to develop and explore themes for the creation of a colourful permanent wall mural. The Mudchute Mural will act as a reference point to showcase how people have adapted to living on the site of a historic dockyard - and area described as the fastest-growing urban settlement in Europe. The project will help foster a sense of civic pride and identity.
