This welcoming café will be housed in a 40ft container with a large covered seating area. A smaller seating area inside will provide a quieter environment as an option to patrons. A children's corner will offer educational toys/books creating a safe and stimulating place for children to play in view of their parents/carers. Various free and paid groups, events and workshops will be on offer to patrons and have been developed to appeal to all demographics. A Pay As You Feel model will be adopted for food sales, allowing patrons to pay what they feel the meal is worth or what they can afford. A Pay It Forward model will used for beverage sales, whereby patrons can opt to pay for extra items that can be claimed by anyone who cannot afford to purchase one themselves. The use of intercepted surplus food from stores will raise awareness around food waste and its environmental impact. This inclusive, welcoming environment will act as a Community Hub for all York residents and visitors alike.
