We want to help small projects make a big difference to their communities. If you think your project could inspire your neighbours to increase the amount of waste they reuse and recycle, or if your project will create a better environment, we want to hear from you.
We will generally seek to fund properly constituted not-for-profit organisations, such as charities, community groups and schools. However, we will also consider smaller groups as appropriate.
We welcome applications from projects from across London but priority will be given to those based in the areas where we work with the Local Authority to deliver household recycling and waste services.
These include the following boroughs:
We are particularly interested in projects which:
1. Improve parks green spaces within The Royal Borough of Kensington & Chelsea (RBKC), particularly around the Westway . Examples of improvements include: Planting or looking after trees and plants, growing food and encouraging natural habitats for wildlife.
2. Encourage residents to be active outdoors, to visit parks and green spaces and take part in healthy activities. Eligible initiatives include: The creation of, or improvement to, facilities which enable people to be active outdoors, special events, sporting and leisure activities, clean-up and gardening projects.
1. Places and spaces that people can enjoy that are greener and more attractive. Transforming un-loved pockets of the local area, or improving RBKC’s existing green spaces and natural environments.
2. Events or activities that encourage people to go out, be active, get fit and get involved in activities.
We want to see creative and innovative ideas that enhance greenery across the country, like building a park on a disused rail line in the sky, creating a community garden, or installing a wifi network in a park, whatever you think will make your local greenspace an even better place to be.
We’re thinking parks, public gardens, outdoor community kitchens, city farms, cemeteries – but really it’s anything that’s got a bit of greenery that you think could do with a little sprucing up! We'll also fund projects that will give people the skills required to look after parks. Remember though, projects that are in privately owned gardens, or schools and public grounds that don’t have public access wouldn’t be eligible.
We want projects to create improvements to free, publicly accessible green space, as well as provide local employment opportunities through the creation of maintenance projects, provide training and work experience opportunities for those in the local community, and promote green open spaces with the local community.
