What is crowdfunding?

Fundamentally Crowdfunding is all about people coming together to make a project happen - by all putting in a bit of money, or time, or expertise.

Here at the MerseyHive we are working to bring together all the amazing projects happening in the Liverpool City Region so that people looking to add their support can find them, and so that we can develop together as a community for the benefit of where we live.

How do I set up a crowdfunding project?

Firstly you need to have a great idea to transform some land, a monument or a building in your community - either on a temporary or permanent basis.

Maybe you are part of a community group who want to run a service in a currently unused building? Or a group of neighbours who would like to grow some food on a local patch of land? Or you could have a much bigger idea for how to improve your city - like The Friends of The Flyover did with their project which successfully raised the money for their feasibility study by crowdfunding through Spacehive. You may also have an idea for a public event like a community party or teaching young children to rollerskate!

We can help you develop your idea and make your project part of the MerseyHive.

You can put your project on here whilst you are developing it - it will be a way of people who are following the MerseyHive to hear about it during it's early stages and maybe offer to assist you in more practical ways. 

 

Being part of our community will mean we are shouting about your project too - so you will reach a wider audience and hopefully your project will move forward quicker too as a consequence

We are also working on developing our local partnerships to bring in some match funding pots that are exclusive to MerseyHive, but in the meantime, being part of the Spacehive community means we can let you know when there are funding opportunities through other Spacehive partners

Create a Project

If you have an idea for a way to make the Liverpool City Region a better, brighter, more fun and community orientated place to live and work then get in touch. You can create your project as part of our Hive before it is ready for funding so we will be able to help you make it as strong a campaign as possible

Become a MerseyHive Founding Partner

In the Liverpool City Region we are reknowned for doing things a little differently and so we thought it would be a great solution to fund the licence for the MerseyHive by effectively crowdfunding it! We want to make sure there is representation from the 6 boroughs involved and so far we have partners from Sefton and Liverpool - so if you are a community organisation, small business or just have a passion for public space and community led development get in touch so we can tell you more about how to get involved. The amount of money is really very small and we are looking for the right partners not the richest ones - so that could be you!

Create a Match Funding Pot

One of the great initiatives of Spacehive is that they bring in corporate supporters that projects can apply to for match funding when they are doing well gaining support from the crowd.

We believe that the Liverpool City Region has some great businesses that are very committed to supporting their local communities and so we will be bringing on board corporate donors to create their own match funding pots for the region.

You will be able to determine your own priorities for the type of projects you wish to support, which could include location, beneficiaries, capital or revenue or another aspect that you identify. You could have specific deadlines for applications and we can help you manage this process too if it helps.
