Please note this fund is open twice per year for spring and autumn funding rounds - see the About page for more information on the next deadline.
Tell us the changes that you think will make the borough a better place. From allotments and street murals to festivals and community cafes – if you have an idea to improve where you live, create a crowdfunding project page and be part of the Doncaster Movement.
Through the Doncaster Movement you'll have the opportunity to ask friends, family and neighbours to back your project with a pledge. If the community supports your project, you may also get a pledge of up to £2,000 (up to 50% of your target) from the council, helping your bright idea to become a bright new reality.
We are particularly interested in reducing the impact on health and social care services by encouraging people to access support in their community, for example projects may:
Provide support and advice to help prevent people feeling they’re in a crisis
Support health and wellbeing
Support people at the earliest stage when they need support
We want projects that help make people feel happy and valued, and the more people that feel that way the better. We don’t expect you to reach all our 300,000 residents, we just want you to make a start in your area.
We want projects that benefit the borough and its people and are worth the
investment, not just in terms of money but in time and effort. If thinking about the idea puts a smile on your face, and if you think it will make a positive difference, then you’re probably onto something!
We are running a funding round - the deadline to create your project on Spacehive and pitch to the fund is the 28th September 2022.
This is not a regular grants programme so we have included a brief overview of the process below:
Complete our short expression of interest formso we can send you key information and invite you to the next free workshop.
Create a project page on Spacehive outlining your idea
You are matched and can pitch to the Doncaster Movement fund and others (the dealine for pitching is 28th September 2022)
Your project will be verified to check the costs and permissions
Start your crowdfunding campaign. Both local support and the extent to which your project meets the fund criteria are considered when assessing your project - so be sure to get going asap!
We'll assess your project, typically six weeks after the deadline to give you time to launch your campaign and showcase local support for your idea. If your pitch is successful, we'll pledge alongside the crowd - up to £2,000 or 50% of your target (whichever is lower).
Hit your target and deliver your project (please allow 2 weeks for pledge collection to take place).
