Crowdfund North of Tyne gives local people the opportunity to create and fund projects which celebrate and improve our local areas. During the coronavirus crisis we have seen the amazing resilience, innovation and compassion of people within our communities. As we emerge from the crisis, we hope that this programme will become a springboard for a locally led recovery. Through this programme, the Combined Authority has £300k  available for supporting campaigns with pledges.

In response to the ongoing cost of living crisis, the North of Tyne Combined Authority can now pledge up to 90% or up to £30,000 towards your crowdfunding project if you are an organisation and £1,000 if you are an individual.

The Spring funding round is now open with a deadline of the 22nd of March 2024 to get involved.

Attend our free project workshop on the 29th of February to find out more - Register here

Newcastle's first & only food waste cafe
Newcastle's first & only food waste cafe joined Crowdfund North of Tyne1 week ago

The Magic Hat (MH) collects food that would otherwise be wasted from around the city, and uses it to prepare a high quality daily menu, serving 500+ people per week. The profits fund our volunteer programme, but we now have a shortfall. The funding is needed as we face increased costs due to the cost of living crisis, energy prices, and staff salaries. We now need some additional funds to support our Volunteer Coordinator and volunteer programme which hosts 120 hours of volunteering per week (30 shifts), and is over subscribed. We also want to develop and deliver a free workshop programme at the Magic Hat, bringing people into the kitchen and together around food who would not otherwis be able to access this. The volunteer and workshop programmes work in partnership. We build relationships with community projects via workshops, and support the participants in our Volunteer Programme, developing English language skills, sharing recipes and using our kitchen as a place of belonging.

Hexham Bluegrass Festival 2024
Hexham Bluegrass Festival 2024 joined Crowdfund North of Tyne1 week ago

Hexham Bluegrass Festival 2024 will build on the success of last year's festival which saw: 22 acts, workshops, talks, a film showing, busking and demonstrations on the bandstand in the Sele park, and in the town. 0ver 800 people attended this weekend and the feedback was resoundingly positive. The festival is free but the musicians and tech team are paid. Free public access is the cornerstone of the event . As well as promoting interest and participation in bluegrass, the festival promotes emerging artists and offers opportunities for a range of individuals to learn about, and experience, this genre of music. Last year's festival attracted all ages and we were joined by young volunteers from a local music project who were learning about festival management. They will be joining us again. The town's local businesses benefitted hugely from the festival. We are fundraising again to ensure the festival's future and to help secure the town's place in the National Bluegrass calendar.

YMCA Seed to Supper Project
YMCA Seed to Supper Project joined Crowdfund North of Tyne1 week ago

YMCA North Tyneside's Seed to Supper project will combine two of our existing initiatives, our Community Meals and our Community Allotment. Since January 2023 our Community Meal initiative has provided good food, along with a warm and social space for up to 50 community members on a weekly basis. Our Community Allotment has had major support from the community over the past 12 months to restore the space to its former glory, after being torn apart during Storm Arwen in 2021. The allotment aims to bring together our supported accommodation residents, nursery children, and community members, along with engaging a range our established projects such as our Happy Women project. Seed to Supper would combine these projects and give our community members a place to belong, contribute and thrive.

Based in the safe, welcoming environment of the new outdoor Playzone at Eastwood Park West Wylam; an area of multi-deprivation, the therapeutic youth worker will become part of the multi-activity games team, playing alongside and providing support and guidance to children and young people with mild to moderate mental health difficulties. Through conversations, issues will be identified and support plans developed to enable identification and referral for additional support. Relationships and trust will be developed by using empowering coaching styles to give positive reinforcement, build confidence and improve how they feel. This coupled with physical activity which reduces anxiety, promotes self-esteem and gives a sense of control and coping ability will promote positive emotions and enjoyment of life. Collaboration with coaches/volunteers to integrate the approach and with health services staff to improve accessibility for vulnerable children to access support will be developed.

Cinema Film Project for Inclusion
Cinema Film Project for Inclusion joined Crowdfund North of Tyne1 week ago

The Forum Cinema Hexham is working with local groups and schools for people with additional needs to make their own short films to put on the big screen. Together we will create a mini film festival with the films the groups make with a feature programmed by the groups' users, all culminating in a glorious awards ceremony. After a small pilot in 2023, we have committed to this being an annual event in which case the groups have told us they would like access to a camera and video editing equipment and software and some training to do their actors and directors justice! This is an amazing way for the community to come together and celebrate themselves and enjoy culture, create their own culture and immerse themselves in culture. We know from last year this is a celebration of spectacular joy. If you are not going to be represented on the big screen then you had better do it yourself!!
